  Custom Slitting

Coil slitting involves running flat rolled metal products through slitter heads composed of knives that cut and break metal into narrower widths. Coils are cut, carefully inspected for defects, recoiled and reworked to correct any incoming shape issues and defects. We manage all of your custom slitting needs on our state-of-the-art steel slitters:

 

On-Site Logistics

VAP’s growing trucking and freight logistics division, and close proximity to some of the largest steel mills in the US enables us to provide a major freight advantage for our customers.

  • On-site trucking/logistics division through our partnership with Tars Trucking, Inc.

  • Fast and efficient loading/unloading (2 docks)

  • Five 30-Ton cranes; Two 10-ton cranes

Toll Processing

VAP Steel slits, cleans, packages, and ships metal products to your exact specifications, and enables you to focus on the core aspects of your business.

  • Custom high-quality slitting into narrower coils

  • State-of-the-art white rust & oil removal system

  • Two Packaging Lines:

    • 69-inch Outer Diameter; 6,200 lbs. max coil

    • 74-inch Outer Diameter; 10,000 lbs max coil

  • On-site Materials Testing (Rockwell Hardness Test) with fast & direct readout of metal product hardness

 

On-Site Rail Capabilities

VAP Steel is located next to one of the largest US steel suppliers and galvanized coating lines, and two the largest steel mills in the United states. Another one of our key value-added benefits is that we have on-site railway capabilities, through our partnership with Union Railroad.

  • Up to 8 cars simultaneously; 2 Rail spurs (4 cars each)

  • Ability to ship in/out via rail brings significant cost savings to customers
